Executive Members

FOUNDER/ BOARD CHAIR

Tamika Graham
 

Tamika is an avid hiker and passionate about addressing the historic context and unique needs that Black women and girls experience in their daily life experiences and outdoor pursuits. She is an alumni of the American Hiking Society’s Next Generation Trail Leadership Program for public lands advocacy. She was also featured in Congressman Jaime Raskin's Local Heroes Weekly Series. She is a Leave No Trace Instructor, has certificates in the DEI Outdoors Practitioner Program and Wilderness First Aid, and is a volunteer for the Coalition for Outdoor Renaming and Education (CORE). She loves that hiking and nature-center experiences activate awe, wonder, and mindfulness. She endeavors to section hike the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) and her inaugural section began in 2021 with a weekend of solo backpacking through the entire state of Maryland. Since that trip, she’s been inviting others to join her as she backpacks additional miles of the trail annually. Outside of weekend hiking adventures, Tamika has a rewarding career in community planning and has successfully led a range of community plans and projects that brought together a myriad of stakeholders to collaborate around shared goals, creative problem-solving, and more equitable outcomes. 

VICE CHAIR

Rayvon Watts

Ray is a lover of the outdoors and passionate about LGBTQ+ issues, particularly at the intersection of outdoor equity and justice for Black communities. He brings heart and purpose to everything he does. He has a wealth of experience managing people and processes within large organizations. Whether he's leading a large and diverse team on implementing a new initiative or fostering inclusive spaces, he is committed to creating safe spaces where everyone can show up as their authentic self. His favorite hike is the Billy Goat Trail along the C & O Canal. When he isn’t outdoors, you can find him traveling or enjoying Sunday brunch around the DMV.

TREASURER

LaToya White

LaToya has a heart for service, community involvement, and gathering with like-minded women. She is intentional about creating an environment where she and others can thrive. For years, she has supported youth activities and has experience with fundraising and community outreach. She has been a mentor for young girls to help them see a future for themselves where they are competent, successful, and thriving. Outside of community service pursuits, LaToya is a well-respected industry leader that has decades of experience supporting non-profit organizations and managing large teams. She loves nature walks in her neighborhood park, dancing, and traveling. She is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

SECRETARY

Laronda Barker

Laronda loves helping people, especially when they are seeking to overcome their circumstances. Her strengths lie in women’s empowerment and creating a supportive environment for healing, growth, and success. She is a distinguished practitioner and licensed LCSWA, LMSW, LSW. She is passionate about mental health issues, particularly for Black women and how various modalities can help heal, such as contact with nature settings and mindset shifts. Laronda has also actively engaged in community outreach and education, advocating for mental health awareness and destigmatization. She enjoys trails, reading books, traveling, and basketball.
